On Saturday, April 12, the Don Bosco Trade High School Board, led by Chair Mike “Mal” Moloney ‘82, hosted a St. John Bosco open house to showcase the future site of the Don Bosco trade high school located in Weymouth, MA. There is a high demand for skilled tradespeople, including electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and HVAC specialists.
Joined by DB alumni from 17 graduating classes between 1962 and 1997, Mal led tours through the building, sharing the vision for the school, which includes curriculum development, necessary infrastructure improvements, and next steps.
While waiting for the next tour, dozens of alumni gathered in a classroom to reconnect with fellow classmates and share thoughts on this exciting news. Graduates were thrilled to have a moment with Larry Bastianelli, a former teacher of Math, Science, and Electronics at DB for 33 years who also chaired the Math and Science Departments and served as Dean of Discipline. We were also honored to welcome a couple of surprise guests—Peachie Fitzgerald, Don Bosco’s nurse from 1982 to 1998 and proud mom of DB grads Stephen and David Fitz; and Ann McCobb, a former DB Teacher from 1986 to 1998.
Thank you to all DB graduates who joined the tour yesterday. While we will continue our outreach to engage further alumni, please help us spread the word about this project. For those unable to attend yesterday’s tour, we will be hosting additional sessions and urge those interested to reach out to arrange one.
